3 Things A Visionary Should Know

Everything we see in our world right now — every building, every item we use, EVERY THING has once been the crazy idea of an imaginative being.

Look around. No matter where you are at the moment, you are surrounded by ideas of people who were driven to make this world better, more comfortable and more exciting.

You are surrounded by creativity, bravery and yes, a little madness. What would this world be like without all the visionaries who devoted their lives to stretching beyond the norm and the possible? Can you imagine?

No wheels, no phones, no planes, no dishwashers, no freezer, no coffee machines, no glue, no electricity. The list is endless.

It is all made up. Every-thing is made up.

Here are 3 things that will help you pull through with your unique vision to change our world and bring us all more joy, love, comfort, fun and meaning.

1. Choose your circle of confidants wisely

The birth on an idea is pure magic. Then comes the moment of sharing this thrill, this delicate seed, inside of you with others. What tends to happen when you tell people about your dream?

The same thing that happened to all the other visionaries before you. Your idea will probably be laughed at and many will say it is impossible. Well, at least until you make it real and then the doubters will tell everyone they’ve always believed in you. But until this moment it’s your reality, here’s something about sharing your dreams with others that will support you greatly in reaching your goal.

Please know that letting somebody in on your vision is an honor that not everyone is ready to appreciate. What if you tell someone about your vision and their reaction is as mentioned above: They doubt you and your idea and fill your head with words like „impossible“ and „failure“ and all their energy draining relatives. Words have impact. Repetition increases the power of words. The more often you let others talk you out of it or give them the chance to doubt you, the sooner you will believe that it is better to not act on what burns in your heart.

When you want to share your vision, follow the advice the knight in Indiana Jones gave Indie when it was his turn to choose the Holy Grail: Choose wisely.

Share your vision with people who are likely to support you and instead of telling you it is impossible, they will say something like: „Very interesting. How can I support you?“ Telling everone about your dreams can be an energy drain.

Instead of a talker, be a doer.
Invest your energy in manifesting your vision. Step by step. Breath by breath. No matter how people react to your vision, don’t ever allow someone stop you from manifesting the impossible. Nothing is impossible. When you can think it, you are half way there.

2. Giving up is not an option

Don’t give up. Doesn’t sound difficult, does it? True, the concept is a simple. However, it is not easy.

There are times when you don’t believe in yourself. You want to give up because nothing seems to make sense anymore.

I know how it feels to lie in bed at night, stare into the darkness, which by day is called ceiling, doubting in my own sanity and judgement. This stage usually comes when the first wave of enthusiasm begins to ebb away exposing the struggle of day to day challenges. Your endless to do list takes up the space where your dreams used to sparkle and shine.

Living your dreams is not one perfect flow of ease and happiness. When my husband Tom and I created YUNA — Mindful Movement, we went through all the struggle and doubt. The ups and downs of an entrepreneur are a rough ride. But here come the good news: It is all worth it. Why?

Because nothing is harder than having a dream burning in your heart and not letting it come to life.

So, what do you do, when doubt comes for a visit? Notice the presence of your visitor. Sit him down on the couch and keep doing your stuff. Create a world where giving up is not an option and simply choose another, better option like eg getting today’s to do list done or switching on your power song and dance like no-one is watching. Just get out of your head and keep your eyes on your goal, instead of the visitor on the couch overstaying his welcome. He will get bored and disappear eventually, because you don’t feed him with attention. Every visitor knows it is time to go when we stop feeding them ; )

The trust in yourself and your vision is going to come back.

Keep creating this thing that only you can do. You have something special to give to this world. Something, only you can give and we are all waiting for this thing and we will love it — even though we don’t know it yet.

3. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable

Lastly, let me share with you the most valuable lesson I’ve learned from creating my first successful business. It is beautifully simple and encouraging. Are you ready? Here it comes: If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.

It is true. Dreams are scary and uncomfortable and annoyingly persistent and most wonderful. Get comfortable with being uncomfortably far out of your comfort zone. It is where the magic happens, where visionaries like you and me are changing this world to a better place for all of us.
